Kart: Lonato at the forefront of the international scene at the start of the year
Reportagem: KartCom Selection

After a short break, next weekend the South Garda Karting circuit in Lonato will host its third event of the season with the second round of the WSK Super Master Series, where 350 drivers are expected. Adria remains closed due to the bankruptcy of the company that used it until now and, unless something happens, the matter could take quite a long time to be settled. Nothing is known at the moment.

The winter season continues with the RGMMC IAME Winter Cup, which has just taken place in Valencia with 167 participants, and the Rotax Winter Cup, which will take place next week in the south of Spain. Organised as a prelude to their respective championships, these two events nevertheless bring together interesting line-ups, confirming the impatience of the competitors and teams to start their racing season.

The Mini gr.3 category, which is run in Italy, is the most sought-after category with its large field at each event. It is undoubtedly the level of the numerous teams that attracts so many international competitors from eight years old. The budget is not particularly limited and the old 60 Mini continues to function like the international categories. It has even become an obligatory route to the top level. Despite their small chassis, the drivers up to the age of 12 have great battles from the start to the finish of the races. They often make great passes with great control and determination. Talent scouts, both karting and car, are increasingly looking at these true apprentice champions. It is also worth remembering that the best Mini drivers are generally very competitive from their debut in OK-Junior.

Only Italy, with the WSK Promotion and the ACI Karting federation, manages to develop this niche that is unique in the world, using different engine brands, among which TM Racing and IAME take the lion's share. 35 nationalities were represented in the WSK Super Master Series in Lonato.
