The 2nd edition of the FIA Motorsport Games took place from 26th to 30th October in the south of France. In the name of Marseille, it was in fact the Paul Ricard circuit that was the nerve centre of the international event organised by SRO. 72 countries were represented (+29) and karting made its full entry with Junior and Senior Sprint and four-stroke Endurance in addition to the Slalom as included in 2019.

Overall, the event was superbly organised in the opinion of spectators and competitors, definitely a great event to experience from the inside. The atmosphere was excellent between all the nations involved. The slalom was held in mixed teams of two drivers on electric karts. Germany won the gold medal ahead of Belgium and Poland. The Karting Endurance, on four-stroke IPK/Tillotson karts, was won by Belgium with a team of specialists, ahead of Spain and the Czech Republic.

The Sprint took place on the 964m winding Paul Ricard karting track, a narrow layout where overtaking was difficult. Kart Republic supplied the chassis with IAME OK and OK-Junior engines. The technical performance of the Italian manufacturer was highly appreciated. In the Junior category, Jules Caranta (FRA) had a very good race. First on the finish line, he received a questionable penalty and Andres Cardenas (PER) took the victory ahead of Gabriel Koenigkan (BRA) and Mikkel Gaarde Pedersen (DNK). Elie Goldstein (BEL) won in the Senior category against Yevan David (LKA) and Ariel Elkin (ISR).

Without having the standard of a European Championship race, the karting competition was up to scratch with the presence of several experienced drivers in both categories. The mix of nationalities and disciplines throughout the event led to interesting encounters and exchanges in addition to the presence of a very large audience. The FIA Motorsport Games, a true motorsport Olympics, is well on its way to becoming a popular sporting event. The next edition will take place in 2024 at the Valencia site in Spain. After the success of this year's event, there is likely to be stiff competition for places. In 2022, Italy was awarded the prize at the closing ceremony ahead of France and Belgium.
