Danilo Albanese, the 2023 FIA Karting European KZ Champion, has every intention of retaining his title in 2024. His top-class performance at MotorLand Aragón in Alcañiz showed that he has the potential to do so. The Italian finished 2nd in the Final with the fastest lap of the race. The competitiveness of the KR chassis was confirmed by Stan Pex's 5th place. In KZ2-Masters, Alessio La Martina and Jeroen Bos also finished in the top six.

Danilo Albanese fastest in KZ Final

P5 in Timed Qualifying, P3, P5 and P4 in the heats, then P5 in the Super Heat, Danilo Albanese never ceased to improve his KR-IAME according to the characteristics of the track and the tyres. 4th on the grid in the Final, he got off to a good start and was soon up to 2nd place. A few laps later, he set the fastest lap of the race and was very close to the leader.

"Attempting to overtake would have been very risky," admitted Danilo. "I preferred to secure this important 2nd place in the Championship, which finishes in a few weeks' time at Val Vibrata in Italy. We'll be on home soil and I'll be going there extremely motivated."

Also performing well, World Champion Paolo Ippolito suffered a race incident at the start of the final which relegated him to 25th position. In those conditions, it was hard to do better than 15th! With the SP Motorsport team, Stan Pex battled constantly in the leading group and, despite an incident in the Super Heat, was able to finish 5th in the Final with an excellent pace.

In KZ2, many young drivers took advantage of this European Championship to make progress and put in some fine performances, including Dmitry Matveev (KR Motorsport), who comes from OK, Nacho Tuñon (DPK Racing), Simon Rechenmacher (TB Racing Team) and Emma Felbermayr (TB Racing Team).

In perfect keeping with the spirit of the creation of the KZ2-Masters category, Alessio La Martina (KR Motorsport) had to contend with drivers who have raced at the highest international level in recent decades. The Italian played his part to perfection and kept his place with a magnificent 5th place. SP Motorsport's Dutch driver Jeroen Bos made a brilliant recovery from 15th to 6th place.

A comment from Dino Chiesa, Head of KR Global Motorsport Company

"It was a difficult meeting, with little testing before the event due to the low number of tyres we received. Despite this, we worked in the right direction, finding some very effective technical solutions for our KR-IAME packages. We'll be continuing our development in preparation for the European Championship finale at Val Vibrata, where we'll be fighting for the title with Danilo Albanese."

About KR Global Motorsport Company

At the end of the 2017 season Dino Chiesa officially presented the new Kart Republic entity and its characteristic logo. The yellow, orange and red colours reflect the colours of the Serenissima Republic which, from 697 to 1797, marked the history of the Padua region, home of the KR brand. The wing refers to those of the lion of St. Mark, the symbol of Venice, the capital of the Venetian Republic.

On 1st January, the KR chassis received CIK-FIA homologation. The success was immediate! In the very first season, the German Hannes Janker became European OK Champion in 2018. A few weeks later, the Italian Lorenzo Travisanutto (KR-IAME) became FIA Karting World Champion. The KR chassis quickly became a reference in the most important international events, as well as in many countries around the world. The successes in FIA Karting followed one another. At the 2022 World Championship in Campillos, less than four years after its launch, KR was the most represented brand in the paddock.

Over the years, the Kart Republic factory has continued to develop, launching the Alonso Kart brand in 2020 and relaunching the famous DAP name in early 2023. The various activities of the Italian company are now grouped under the "KR Global Motorsport Company". The head of the company, Dino Chiesa, is one of the most influential figures in the world of karting. The Italian engineer is also one of the best talent scouts in the world of karting. He has helped the rise of drivers such as Nico Rosberg, Lewis Hamilton and Nyck De Vries. Many Formula 1 team academies trust him, including those of Mercedes, Red Bull, Alpine and Sauber. The famous Prema Racing team has just announced its entry to the world of karting, in partnership with Kart Republic.
