Reportagem: Kart Republic

The Champions of the Future Euro Series ended on a high note for KR at PF International in England. With the FIA Karting World Championship looming on the horizon, the drivers and teams set out to achieve the best possible results in the fifth and final round of this ultra-competitive series. In OK, Joe Turney became Champion with panache, as he finished with a magnificent victory ahead of two other KR-IAMEs, those of Freddie Lloyd and Salim Hanna, while Thibaut Ramaekers and Fionn McLaughlin completed the series podium, also with karts in Kart Republic colours. In OK-Junior, Kenzo Craigie finished in the top three of the Euro Series behind Niklas Schaufler after taking 2nd place in the Final.

A second consecutive OK title for Joe Turney

Having just been crowned FIA Karting European Champion, Joe Turney remained in winning mode in the United Kingdom, confirming the extreme competitiveness of the KR-IAME package whatever the characteristics of the circuits and the weather conditions, as the drivers sometimes had to use rain tyres. 2nd in Qualifying behind Noah Monteiro, his KR Motorsport team-mate, and 2nd again after the heats and Super Heats, this time behind Freddie Lloyd (Fusion Motorsport), Turney overtook Lloyd in the last third of the Final to take victory.

Behind this duo, the KR-IAME teams were extremely numerous: P3 Salim Hanna (Prema Racing), P5 Fionn McLaughlin (VDK Racing), P7 David Cosma-Cristofor (Cetilar Racing), P8 Joseph Smith (VictoryLane) and P9 Jimmy Helias (VictoryLane). Thanks to drivers like Francis, Matveev, Bondarev, Albag and Bouzar, there were 12 KR-IAME drivers in the top 20.

Thibaut Ramaekers and Fionn McLaughlin, both drivers for the VDK Racing team, made it a hat-trick for KR chassis in this Champions of the Future Euro Series.

Kenzo Craigie concludes with a double podium finish

The event got off to a particularly good start for the KR brand, with a number of drivers putting in high-level performances: Noah Baglin in Prema Racing colours set the absolute fastest time ahead of team-mate James Anagnostiadis. Rocco Coronel (VictoryLane) followed in 3rd place, while Dean Hoogendorn (Fusion Motorsport) was 6th ahead of Iacopo Martinese (KR Motorsport). The heats confirmed this excellent impression, as did the Super Heats which were won by Anagnostiadis and Kenzo Craigie (Prema Racing).

Anagnostiadis, Craigie and Coronel managed to hold the lead during the Final. In the end, it was Craigie who came out on top with 2nd place, less than four tenths behind the winner. This brilliant result allowed him to move up to 3rd in the Champions of the Future Euro Series, just behind Niklas Schaufler (DPK Racing).

In the Final, half of the drivers in the top 20 drove a KR-IAME: P5 Kit Belofsky, P6 Arjen Kraeling, P7 Rocco Coronel (P2 before a penalty), P8 Anagnostiadis, P14 Noah Baglin, P16 Harrison Mackie, P17 Niklas Schaufler, P18 Zac Green and P19 Archie Owen. Well done to all the teams and their technical staff, who worked with professionalism and expertise to achieve this result.

Comments from Dino Chiesa, Head of KR Global Motorsport Company

"We are obviously very satisfied with our overall performance at the meeting and with the final results of the Champions of the Future Euro Series, with a hat-trick in OK and two KR-IAMEs on the podium in OK-Junior. KR Motorsport and our satellite teams worked in the right direction, so our equipment was very competitive in both categories. Of course, we now have to continue our efforts, because the World Championship is coming up very quickly. We can't write history too quickly. With the addition of the OK-N category, 'option' tyres will be in the majority, the temperatures are likely to be cooler and we always have to be wary of the British drivers who know the PFI track very well. There could be surprises, with different conditions from one week to the next. Perhaps the CIK-FIA should think about reversing its calendar: one event for the European Championship and four for the World Championship? The driver crowned World Champion would then be more legitimate."

On 1st January, the KR chassis received CIK-FIA homologation. The success was immediate! In the very first season, the German Hannes Janker became European OK Champion in 2018. A few weeks later, the Italian Lorenzo Travisanutto (KR-IAME) became FIA Karting World Champion. The KR chassis quickly became a reference in the most important international events, as well as in many countries around the world. The successes in FIA Karting followed one another. At the 2022 World Championship in Campillos, less than four years after its launch, KR was the most represented brand in the paddock.

Over the years, the Kart Republic factory has continued to develop, launching the Alonso Kart brand in 2020 and relaunching the famous DAP name in early 2023. The various activities of the Italian company are now grouped under the "KR Global Motorsport Company". The head of the company, Dino Chiesa, is one of the most influential figures in the world of karting. The Italian engineer is also one of the best talent scouts in the world of karting. He has helped the rise of drivers such as Nico Rosberg, Lewis Hamilton and Nyck De Vries. Many Formula 1 team academies trust him, including those of Mercedes, Red Bull, Alpine and Sauber. The famous Prema Racing team has just announced its entry to the world of karting, in partnership with Kart Republic.
