Kart: an instructive and victorious weekend
Reportagem: Kart Republic

The KR Motorsport team split in two from 25th to 29th September! The Shifter category drivers travelled to Portimao in the south of Portugal for the Champions of the Future event organised two weeks before the World Championship. Meanwhile, the WSK Euro Series came to a close in Sarno, where the KR chassis won both the OK and Mini classes. The Italian factory was also delighted with the results obtained in the final round of the British Championship in the IAME categories.

WSK Euro Series: two wins and two titles at Sarno

A new track at the Naples International Circuit and new successes for the KR chassis! The WSK Euro Series began at the end of June in Franciacorta and ended in Sarno. A number of drivers from the OK-Junior category took advantage of the opportunity to make their debut in OK to begin their preparations for 2025. The teams representing the brands in the Kart Republic group supported them with their usual expertise and professionalism. Young hopefuls such as Niklas Schaufler (DPK Racing) and Oliver Kinnmark (KR Motorsport) performed well on their debut in the category, finishing P3 and P6 respectively. Victory went to Scott Lindblom (Fusion Motorsport), who took the title in this WSK Promotion series after already winning at Franciacorta.

Other KR-IAME packages also performed well: P4 Alp Aksoy (Fusion Motorsport), P5 Bernardo Bernoldi (KR Motorsport) and P8 Markas Silkunas (KR Motorsport) in OK, P4 Dean Hoogendoorn (KR Motorsport), P5 Bosco Arias (DPK Racing) and P6 Arjen Kraeling (KR Motorsport) in OK-Junior. The KR chassis also shone in Mini 60 (Group 3). Daniel Miron Lorente, crowned champion, and Oleksandr Legenkyi completed the double with the Team Driver Racing Kart team.

Portimao: promising performances

RGMMC organised its first Champions of the Future Shifter, and the KR Motorsport team made sure to take part to prepare in the best possible conditions for the 2024 World Championship, which will take place on the Algarve circuit in southern Portugal from 10th to 13th October. In KZ, the three drivers stood out during the meeting. Because of the drying track, Qualifying was a lottery, but the rest of the meeting was much better. Paolo Ippolito was 5th on the starting grid in the Final before being locked in, Danilo Albanese made a remarkable comeback to the front and finally it was Stan Pex who achieved the best result of the KR-IAME karts by moving up from 11th to 6th place in the final.

In KZ2, Juho Valtanen (Dörr Motorsport), Nacho Tunon (DPK Racing) and Dmitry Matveev (KR Motorsport) were able to show off their skills during the meeting, with Valtanen managing to break into the top 10. Alessio La Martina, already 5th in the European Championship, was again P5 in KZ2 Masters, in a race that gave Alessandro Manetti the chance to get to know his new equipment.

Three titles in the UK

The British Championship for the IAME categories ended on the Three Sisters Circuit in Wigan, with a number of podiums for the KR chassis. In the X30 Junior class, Harrison Mackie (Fusion Motorsport) is the new champion. He beat three other drivers also equipped with the Italian chassis. There was the same result in Water Swift Restricted, with four KRs in the top four places and the title going to Alfie Davidson (Fusion Motorsport). In Water Swift, the result was clear-cut, with 18 KR chassis in the top-20, led by 2024 winner Will Green (Jamie Green Racing). Congratulations also to Freddie Lloyd (Fusion Motorsport), runner-up in the X30 Senior class.

Comments from Dino Chiesa, Head of KR Global Motorsport Company

"I'd like to congratulate the drivers and teams who have helped us add further victories to Kart Republic's list of achievements, both in the British Championship and in the WSK Euro Series. In addition to the title won by Scott Lindblom in OK with Fusion Motorsport, the Sarno event was interesting for the young drivers who wanted to discover the category. At Portimao, we were able to see that Qualifying will have its importance in the World Championship, because it's not so easy to overtake, the general grip being lower than what we experienced in the European Championship at Val Vibrata. There are a lot of positives to take from this event in terms of performance."

About KR Global Motorsport Company

At the end of the 2017 season Dino Chiesa officially presented the new Kart Republic entity and its characteristic logo. The yellow, orange and red colours reflect the colours of the Serenissima Republic which, from 697 to 1797, marked the history of the Padua region, home of the KR brand. The wing refers to those of the lion of St. Mark, the symbol of Venice, the capital of the Venetian Republic.

On 1st January, the KR chassis received CIK-FIA homologation. The success was immediate! In the very first season, the German Hannes Janker became European OK Champion in 2018. A few weeks later, the Italian Lorenzo Travisanutto (KR-IAME) became FIA Karting World Champion. The KR chassis quickly became a reference in the most important international events, as well as in many countries around the world. The successes in FIA Karting followed one another. At the 2022 World Championship in Campillos, less than four years after its launch, KR was the most represented brand in the paddock.

Over the years, the Kart Republic factory has continued to develop, launching the Alonso Kart brand in 2020 and relaunching the famous DAP name in early 2023. The various activities of the Italian company are now grouped under the "KR Global Motorsport Company". The head of the company, Dino Chiesa, is one of the most influential figures in the world of karting. The Italian engineer is also one of the best talent scouts in the world of karting. He has helped the rise of drivers such as Nico Rosberg, Lewis Hamilton and Nyck De Vries. Many Formula 1 team academies trust him, including those of Mercedes, Red Bull, Alpine and Sauber. The famous Prema Racing team has just announced its entry to the world of karting, in partnership with Kart Republic.
