The major FIA Karting world event for gearbox categories was eagerly awaited and proved a great sporting success at the Franciacorta circuit in Italy. To ensure the satisfaction of the 250 drivers competing in KZ, KZ2 and KZ2 Masters in terms of performance, consistency and safety, exceptional tyres were required, and the LPM "Prime" tyres developed by manufacturer LeCont perfectly met the requirements of this top-level event.

All systems go

A week before the World Championship, at the Champions of the Future Shifter event, LeCont had already drawn extremely positive conclusions from the competition in the three categories: KZ, KZ2 and KZ2 Masters. A week later at the World Championship, the Italian manufacturer's objective was clear: to once again guarantee maximum competitiveness, the same rigorous service to drivers and teams, and exciting races on the track. Mission accomplished! This World Championship will remain one of the great successes of recent years, as the FIA Karting itself stated in its official press release.

Tyres put to the test

With a significant number of private test days, an exciting preparatory event organised by RGMMC in early October, and four intense days at the World Championship, the drivers completed dozens of laps at the Franciacorta Karting Track. At all times, they were able to rely on suitable tyres despite the constraints: karts weighing over 170 kg, incredible cornering speeds, average lap speeds of over 100 km/h and a relentless series of races.

For example, the drivers in the KZ2 category competed in a timed session, six Qualifying Heats and a Super Heat with only six tyres, which consistently provided optimum grip regardless of the number of kilometres covered. Two laps before crossing the finish line as the winner of Super Heat A, Maksim Orlov was still lapping at 45.133, just over two tenths of a second slower than his Qualifying time on new tyres. Further proof of the performance and consistency of Italian tyres!

Impressive lap times

As at every FIA Karting event, LeCont was delighted to present a special trophy to the drivers who achieved pole position in their category: David Trefilov in KZ (44.847), Maksim Orlov in KZ2 (44.860) and Davide Fore in KZ2 Masters (45.545). These are once again very fast lap times.

On Sunday afternoon, the competition ended on a high note with a particularly celebratory trophy ceremony.

LeCont congratulates the nine drivers who climbed onto the podium wearing caps engraved with the Rovereto brand's logo:

• Senna Van Walstijn, KZ World Champion ahead of Viktor Gustafsson and Danilo Albanese
• Maksim Orlov, winner of the KZ2 World Cup ahead of Timo Jüngling and Noah Wolfe
• Angelo Lombardo, winner of the KZ2 Masters International Super Cup ahead of Davide Fore and Anthony Abbasse

LeCont looks forward to seeing the drivers on circuits around the world for more exciting racing...
