Kart: Morgatto very fast in Slovakia
Reportagem: Birel ART

Matheus Morgatto once again put in an excellent performance in OK last weekend on the Slovak Karting Center circuit, where the third round of the FIA Karting European Championship took place. Delayed by contact at the start of the Final, he nevertheless managed to finish in the top three of the provisional Championship standings.

The CL Racing Team's Brazilian driver confirmed the competitiveness he had shown three weeks earlier during the Champions of the Future Euro Series at the formidable Slovakia Ring. Fast in Qualifying with the 4th fastest time in his group and 11th overall, Morgatto was able to exploit the full potential of his Birel ART / TM Kart during the Qualifying Heats. In a perfect run, he took two wins and finished 2nd once and 3rd twice, which propelled him to the lead on Saturday evening. Although he was slower in the Super Heat, he kept his chances alive by starting the Final from 5th position. An unfortunate contact ruined his race on the first lap. Forced to race in the pack, Morgatto finished 14th on the track and was 16th because of a front fairing penalty. Thanks to his excellent runs, he moved up to 3rd in the Championship.

Noah Wolfe (VAR by Birel) had qualified well in 9th place and started his heats with two 2nd places. Unfortunately, two consecutive retirements delayed him and he was forced to retire on the second lap of the Final final, caught up in a collision.

"We can be satisfied with the current performance of our chassis," said Jordon Lennox, Birel ART Racing's OK Team Manager. "The development work has paid off in the heat at the start of the meeting as well as in the rain and in intermediate conditions. Of course, Morgatto's Final didn't live up to our expectations. Incidents are not uncommon on a track like the Slovak Karting Center. He had managed to avoid trouble up until now and his progress during the heats is a source of satisfaction. Morgatto will head into the final round of the European Championship in Sweden at the end of July in 3rd position in the standings and we're going to do everything we can to help him finish his European season on a high note."

By then, the Birel ART Racing Team will have taken part in the first round of the European KZ / KZ2 / KZ2 Master Championship in Spain at the Motorland Aragon circuit in Alcaniz, a highly anticipated event.
