Kart: Modena Racing Team already leading the WSK Final Cup
Reportagem: Modena Kart

About a month after its triumph at the FIA Karting World Cup in OK-N Junior with Gioele Girardello, Modena Racing Team continues to prove its position as a specialist in the category. Whatever the circuit, the Parolin / TM Kart equipment from the Italian team impress with their competitiveness. This was once again the case at Franciacorta during the opening round of the highly competitive WSK Final Cup. From Qualifying to the Final, Nojus Stasionis fought for victory and ended up on the podium. The Lithuanian driver collected the most points during the competition, putting him in 1st place in the overall standings for the moment. Several of his team-mates also performed at a high level during the event.

A leading Italian team

In Franciacorta, Modena Racing Team was eager and excited to return to a WSK Promotion event. In July, the Italian promoter's previous event ended with a double podium finish in the Euro Series with Gioele Girardello and Albert Tamm. Since then, the team has grown even stronger with the arrival of new drivers. With seven young hopefuls from Lithuania, Finland, Turkey, Sweden, the United States and Italy, the Finocchi brothers' team had one of the largest line-ups in the OK-N Junior category.

The podium haul continues

Nojus Stasionis had an impressive run in Lombardy: P2 in Qualifying (P1 in his group), P1 in all three heats with the fastest lap, P1 in both warm-ups over the weekend, P1 in the Super Heat, P3 in the Final and P1 in the WSK Final Cup standings before the last two rounds, which will take place in November in Cremona and Lonato. Well done! His Swedish teammate Elton Hedfors proved himself by winning a heat and finishing P2 in the Super Heat. His fastest lap of 48.532 in Heat 3 will remain the absolute best lap in the category at Franciacorta. It's a shame that a collision in the Final ruined his chances, as he started 8th and was already in 5th place four laps later.

The fastest driver in his group in the final Free Practice session before Qualifying, Turkey's Ruzgar Evci set the fastest lap in Super Heat A. He deserved better than 19th place in the Final. Federico Mirabella was 7th after Qualifying. He was unlucky in the heats, before gaining 11 places in the Final to finish 15th. With Italy's Mario Decker and the United States' Grayson Walcott, Modena Racing Team had six drivers in the Final! Odin Flora, from Finland, was competing in a WSK event for the first time and should progress quickly. Finally, Turkey's Leyla Sulyak raced in OK-N and made a name for herself with several comebacks of 14, 11 and 10 places. In the Final, she finished 25th after gaining two places.

Analysis by Gabriele Finocchi, Modena Kart team principal

"We won the World Cup this season, but each event represents a new challenge to be tackled with strength, humility and determination. We have no intention of resting on our laurels, and this new podium finish shows that we are still a force to be reckoned with. In this Final at Franciacorta, Nojus Stasionis proved to be faster than the drivers he was battling with and came very close to winning. However, he took the lead in the series and we will do everything we can to ensure he retains this position."

Comment from Alessandro Palloni, Modena Kart team manager

"There was a great atmosphere within our team and all our drivers showed real motivation to achieve a good result. Three of them set the fastest laps in the race, confirming the performance of our Parolin/TM Kart equipment. I would also like to point out that most of our drivers have come from the Mini category. This progression is exemplified by Gioele Girardello and Albert Tamm, who moved up to OK-Junior with excellent preparation, exactly the path we want for our talented drivers. I would like to take this opportunity to thank our incredible technical staff and our engine manufacturer, M.A. Engines."
