The FIA announced earlier this year that Malaysia will host this highly anticipated event on the International Sporting Calendar. The 1.5km track at the LYL International Circuit is Asia's largest karting circuit and with challenging corners, testing chicanes and an iconic bridge and tunnel section the circuit is set to provide a robust challenge for the drivers who will be keen to prove themselves on the global stage.

Following the launch of the FIA's Global Karting Plan last year to widen the accessibility and affordability of grassroots motor sport, the innovative 'Arrive and Drive' format is the centrepiece of the event with all drivers competing in identical, standardised karts provided by OTK Group. This format eliminates technical disparities, removes the financial barriers associated with the international transport of equipment and allows pure driving skill to be the focus of attention during the competition.

The first track action of the event will be on Friday 14 November with free practice for the juniors and seniors. Each driver group, will get five 10-minute free practice runs over the course of the day.

Qualifying Practice is first up on Saturday morning, with every driver pushing to set their best lap time during a six-minute session. At the end of the sessions, drivers will be allocated into four groups per junior and senior class based on their qualifying practice time.

In the afternoon, the junior and senior groups will each take part in three qualifying heats to begin to set the grid for Sunday's races. The qualifying heats will award points based on their finishing position after each heat. After all qualifying heats have concluded, a final classification will be published with the top 28 drivers in each class proceeding to Sunday's final.

A B-Final will begin track proceedings on the morning of Sunday 16 November with drivers ranked from 29th to the last qualified position after the qualifying heats.

The junior and senior finals will then get underway from 13:00 with a race over 20 laps for the seniors and 17 laps for the juniors to crown the 2025 FIA Karting Arrive and Drive World Cup winners.

Entry List

107 drivers (53 junior and 54 senior) make up the entry lists for the inaugural FIA Karting Arrive and Drive World Cup.

Entries were initially open exclusively to ASNs (FIA Member Clubs) to ensure widespread geographic representation and to encourage national clubs to support drivers with promising potential at the national level.

A total of 83 drivers competing in Malaysia have been nominated by their respective ASNs, while the remaining 24 drivers secured their place after the event opened to individual entries.

15 girls are also competing in the event, the largest number ever to enter an FIA Karting competition. The FIA Women in Motorsport Commission has nominated and fully funded two of these drivers. With so many girls on track throughout the weekend, the event holds great promise to leave a lasting legacy of accessible and inclusive motor sport, starting at the grassroots level.

50 nationalities from every continent are represented at the event, highlighting both the truly global nature of the competition and the international growth of karting whilst reinforcing the FIA's commitment to diversity and participation in motor sport at every level.

Driver Preview

All indications point towards an exciting and unpredictable weekend with an open field and no clear early favourites. This is partly due to the format adopted by the FIA to encourage emerging talent which only allowed drivers without prior experience in FIA Karting Championships or Cups to apply, except those who have competed in the FIA Karting Academy Trophy.

However, there a few names to watch out for during the event. Three Malaysian drivers will be hoping to claim victory on home soil. Mika Francois Slabbert will be competing in the junior class whilst Ethan Seto and Daniel Haris Jaeggi will be competing in the senior class, all will be looking to make a strong impression to launch their motor sport careers at their home track and in front of a local crowd.

Across the junior category, American Troy Ferguson has been building a name for himself in the US as a three-time ProKart champion and will be surely looking to begin his FIA Karting career with a strong performance. Hamish Campbell is one of Australia's brightest junior karting stars as runner-up in this year's KA2 Junior Championship and with previous international competitive experience having competed at the Rotax International Asia Trophy he is certainly one to keep an eye on.

Micah Vino Satrio is a four-time National Champion in the Eshark Rok Cup Indonesia and also carries international experience having qualified for the Rok Super Final in Italy earlier this year alongside his younger brother Michael Vino Satrio. Having put in consistently dominant performances in national events he'll certainly be looking to challenge for a podium in Malaysia.

In the senior category, Kimi Rae Fitriansyah enters the competition with previous FIA Karting Academy Trophy experience he will be hoping to build upon. Lizzy Mentier, a name familiar to those who follow the British Kart Championship and Kartmasters, will be looking to expand her international racing experience having entered the Rotax MAX Challenge International Trophy last year.

Finally, Zain Elhommosany comes fresh from his victory at the MENA Karting Championship Nations Cup in Qatar and will be hoping to repeat his dominant performance in Kuala Lumpur next week where he will be representing the UAE.

Driver Development

The FIA is also providing driver development workshops for the drivers during their time in Malaysia. Offered as part of their entry to the competition, sessions covering safety, medical, nutrition, anti-doping and media training will be available to the young drivers as part of the motor sport governing body's commitment to support the next generation of racing stars and invest in the future of the sport.

Media Safety Briefing:

It is mandatory for all accredited media members who wish to access the trackside area to attend a safety briefing. The main media safety briefing will take place on Thursday 13 November at 16:00 in the Briefing Room. Tabards providing access to the track will only be issued following attendance of a full safety briefing.
