Kart: more successes in WSK for Kart Republic in Sarno
Reportagem: Kart Republic

From Mini to KZ, KR chassis performed well in all categories during the second round of the WSK Super Master Series. This was clearly the Italian brand's goal for this trip to the Sarno circuit, which is preparing to host an FIA Karting event, the Champions of the Future Euro Series and an ACI Italian Championship event. The victories of Wynn Godschalk in Mini 60 "group 3" and Niccolo Perico in OK-N Junior, who respectively wear the colours of Red Bull and Mercedes-AMG, also show that Kart Republic remains a benchmark for providing young drivers with the best possible support on their way to the top of the pyramid.

Convincing tests and podium finishes

The WSK Promotion events and titles may not have the same reputation they had a few years ago, but Kart Republic approaches each of its events with the same seriousness and determination. At this time of year, managing weather conditions remains important and the technical staff of the teams using the KR chassis are constantly called upon to put the drivers in the best position to achieve their audacious goals. This was evident at the famous circuit in the Naples region.

Perico and Godschalk winners

The Sarno event began with Qualifying sessions contested on rain tyres and pole positions for KR Motorsport with Niccolo Perico in OK-N Junior and Will Green in OK-Junior, while Niklas Schaufler (DPK Racing) marked his return with the fastest time in his group in OK. Subsequently, no fewer than 13 victories in the Qualifying Heats were recorded, as well as several victories in the Prefinals and fastest laps in the races. The competition was fierce in the Final, which were contested on slick tyres, but the KR chassis rose to the challenge.

An easy winner in OK-N Junior, Niccolo Perico extended his lead in the overall standings. Wynn Godschalk held on in Mini 60 in an extremely competitive Final. His Kidix Driver Performance team-mate Devin Titz completed the podium. The Kart Republic factory Mini chassis also excelled in Mini U10. A collision caused Daniel Miron Lorente (Fusion Motorsport) to lose his lead in OK-Junior, but the young Dutchman managed to fight his way back to 3rd place. Niklas Schaufler also secured a podium finish in OK, while Luka Scelles (VictoryLane) came close. Starting from pole position in the Final, Zac Drummond (Fusion Motorsport) was unlucky at the decisive moment but remains well placed in the overall standings.

Excellent prospects in KZ for Danilo Albanese and his KR-IAME

At the Naples-Sarno international circuit, which will host the final round of the FIA Karting European Championship for KZ and KZ2, Danilo Albanese demonstrated the competitiveness of his KR-IAME package, notably when he won Prefinal A on a dry track. Unfortunately, the Italian driver's other races were marred by incidents, meaning that Danilo was unable to fight for a podium place. But it's only a matter of time...

Comment from Dino Chiesa, head of KR Global Motorsport Company

"The work continues and Kart Republic is taking advantage of this international series to accelerate development ahead of the big events to come! I would like to remind you that the start of the season is important because it marks a new year of homologation for the engines. At this level, on a circuit different from La Conca, the new IAME engines have once again demonstrated their competitiveness in all categories. As for Kart Republic, we have added five podium finishes to our list of honours, which is positive. We are performing well in Italy and we want to continue to do so, but our main objective is to win new European and World titles in the FIA Karting events, which currently enjoy great renown and high-level organisation. This is also the case for Champions of the Future, an important series that uses the same circuits and equipment as the FIA, like a second Euro."

About KR Global Motorsport Company

At the end of the 2017 season Dino Chiesa officially presented the new Kart Republic entity and its characteristic logo. The yellow, orange and red colours reflect the colours of the Serenissima Republic which, from 697 to 1797, marked the history of the Padua region, home of the KR brand. The wing refers to those of the lion of St. Mark, the symbol of Venice, the capital of the Venetian Republic.

On 1st January, the KR chassis received CIK-FIA homologation. The success was immediate! In the very first season, the German Hannes Janker became European OK Champion in 2018. A few weeks later, the Italian Lorenzo Travisanutto (KR-IAME) became FIA Karting World Champion. The KR chassis quickly became a reference in the most important international events, as well as in many countries around the world. The successes in FIA Karting followed one another. At the 2022 World Championship in Campillos, less than four years after its launch, KR was the most represented brand in the paddock.

Over the years, the Kart Republic factory has continued to develop, launching the Alonso Kart brand in 2020 and relaunching the famous DAP name in early 2023. The various activities of the Italian company are now grouped under the "KR Global Motorsport Company". The head of the company, Dino Chiesa, is one of the most influential figures in the world of karting. The Italian engineer is also one of the best talent scouts in the world of karting. He has helped the rise of drivers such as Nico Rosberg, Lewis Hamilton and Nyck De Vries. Many Formula 1 team academies trust him, including those of Mercedes, Red Bull, Alpine and Sauber. The famous Prema Racing team has just announced its entry to the world of karting, in partnership with Kart Republic.
